Police: Suspect Took $35,000 In Cash, Other Items From Bronx Church

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Tuesday were searching for a suspect who stole more than $35,000 worth of money and other items from a church in the Bronx.

Around 2 a.m. Friday, Oct. 17, the suspect walked into the church at 1570 Walton Ave. in the Mount Eden section of the Bronx through a back door, police said. The Eternal Sacred Order of Cherubim and Seraphim Halleluya Church of Christ is listed at the address.

The suspect took an undetermined amount of money from the donation box at the church, and also took jewelry and crosses valued at more than $35,000, police said.

Police have released surveillance video taken before the incident.
