Police: Suspect Smashed Into, Burglarized Meatpacking District Jewelry Store

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The search was on Monday evening for a suspect who smashed his way into a Meatpacking District jewelry store and ripped off several items inside.

Around 4:10 a.m. Sunday, the suspect threw a brick inside a black garbage bag through the door into the Anna Inspiring Jewellery store at 825 Washington St., police said.

Once inside, he took several pieces of jewelry before running off, police said.

Police have released a surveillance photo of a suspect.

Anyone with information was asked to call the NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS, log onto the Crime Stoppers website, or text tips to 274637 (CRIMES) and enter TIP577.
