Police: Woman Carrying A Knife Shot And Tasered By Officers In Queens

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Police in Queens shot and tasered a woman with a knife during a violent incident Friday night.

Authorities said the shooting took place near Jamaica Avenue and 212th Street around 10 p.m. after a pair of officers from the 105th Precinct saw the woman acting erratically outside a carwash.

The NYPD says the suspect then threw a glass bottle at the officers and was seen carrying the knife.

After refusing to put the weapon down and continuing to approach police, one officer shot the woman in the abdomen. She then fled the scene.

Another pair of officers found her a shot time later and tasered her after she again refused to drop her knife.

Sources told CBS2 that the woman was taken to a nearby hospital and she is expected to recover from her injuries.

Investigators recovered the knife at the scene. Police say none of the officers involved was injured during the incident.
