Police Seek Suspect Who Shot At Police Sergeant & Officer In Queens

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The NYPD is asking for the public's help in locating a suspect wanted in connection with the attempted murder of a police officer and sergeant in Queens.

According to authorities, a uniformed police sergeant and a police officer were responding to a report of a group of men trespassing in the rear of 93-35 Lamont Ave. around 1:50 a.m. Saturday when they observed a male suspect armed with a gun chasing another man, firing at him near Lamont Avenue and Forley Street.

Police said the two got out of their vehicle and ordered the suspect to drop his weapon. That's when officials said the suspect turned to the sergeant and officer and fired at them.

Both returned fire, but did not strike the suspect before he fled the scene.

The suspect's firearm, a loaded .22 caliber handgun, was recovered at the scene, police said.

Officials described the suspect as a Hispanic male, between 20 and 25 years old, with a medium build.
