Police Seek Suspect Who Escaped Custody At Brookdale Hospital

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are searching for a woman who escaped police custody in Brooklyn just hours after her arrest.

Authorities said they stopped 30-year-old Carmen Riley Friday afternoon because she was not wearing a seat belt.

During the traffic stop, officers discovered Riley's car was a rental that she never returned and that her driver's license was suspended, CBS2 reported.

Following her arrest, officers took Riley to Brookdale Hospital because she complained of being ill.

That's where police said she escaped police custody and fled the hospital around 5:40 p.m.

Police released a photo of Riley and described her as a Hispanic female weighing 150 pounds and about 5'4" tall. Riley also has tattoos on the right side of her neck and on her hand, police said.

Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477). You can also submit a tip by logging onto Crime Stoppers website or text a tip to CRIMES (274637), then enter TIP577.
