Police Seek Suspect In Livery Cab Robbery In East Harlem

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police Wednesday night were seeking help from the public in finding a suspect who robbed a livery cab driver in East Harlem this past weekend.

The robbery happened around 2:55 a.m. this past Sunday outside 2101 Madison Ave., near 135th Street, in the Abraham Lincoln Houses public housing development, police said.

The suspect got into the 26-year-old male victim's cab, flashed a firearm, and demanded property, police said.

The victim handed over $40 and a Samsung cellphone, and the suspect ran off into a nearby building, police said.

The suspect was described as being about 23 years old, standing about 5 feet 6 inches tall with a dark complexion, police said. He was last seen wearing a brown hooded sweat shirt.

Police have released surveillance video of the suspect with the gun aimed at the driver.
