Police Seek Suspect In Central Islip Hit-Run That Injured Pedestrian

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Suffolk County police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a pedestrian in Central Islip.

According to authorities, 25-year-old Edgar Abrego was crossing Carleton Avenue at Brightside Avenue around 9:25 p.m. when he was struck by a car heading northbound. The car then fled the scene.

Abrego was airlifted by helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he is being treated for head injuries. He is listed in serious condition.

Suffolk County's Vehicular Crime Unit is continuing its investigation into the crash.
