Police Seek Hit-And-Run Driver Who Killed Pedestrian On Long Island

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Long Island are investigating following a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian.

Suffolk County Police said 40-year-old Tracy Mangino was walking along North Country Road near Block Island Drive in Miller Place Saturday night when she was hit by a commercial, box-type truck that was traveling eastbound. The driver then fled the scene.

Mangino, of Miller Place, was taken to John T. Mather Memorial Hospital in Port Jefferson where she died of her injuries, police said.

No arrests have been made and the investigation into the crash is ongoing, police said.

Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has any information about the incident to contact the Vehicular Crime Unit at 631-852-6555 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
