Police Seek 5 Men Following Halloween Night Home Invasion In Farmingdale

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are investigating following a violent Halloween night home invasion and robbery in Nassau County, Long Island.

According to police, a 34-year-old woman answered the door to her home on Beach Street in Farmingdale expecting trick-or-treaters, but instead, she was ambushed by a group of men who forced their way into the house.

The five men wore masks covering their faces and two were carrying handguns, police said.

The men demanded the woman and her husband sit down and when the husband refused, he was pistol whipped several times in the head, police said. The couple's 2-year-old son was also home at the time.

Authorities said the suspects bound the couple with duct tape before ransacking the home.

The woman was then able to free herself, grab her toddler and run next door to call 911, police said. At which time, all five suspects fled the residence.

Police said it remains unclear how much was taken from the home.

Nassau County detectives are urging anyone with information regarding the incident to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
