NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are investigating a hit-and-run in Brooklyn overnight involving multiple vehicles.

A Toyota SUV hit a parked car on Clarkson Avenue around 1:30 a.m. Monday, police said. It then sped off toward Bedford Avenue where the driver hit four more cars, police said, causing one of the cars to overturn.

One woman who lives around the corner said she heard the impact.

"Somehow that car came with force and he couldn't stop his car at all, and he ended up knocking a car that was trying to make a turn onto Clarkson," she told 1010 WINS' Glenn Schuck. "He was totaled. It was hit-and-run."

Seven people were taken to the hospital. Two are in serious condition.

Police are searching for the driver of the SUV who authorities said took off on foot.

The investigation is ongoing.
