Police Search For Suspect Who Robbed, Shot Man In Inwood

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Tuesday were searching for a robber who and wounded a man on an Inwood, Manhattan street.

Around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, the suspect walked up to the man and a female witness on West 204th Street and flashed a handgun, police said. He demanded money.

The victim handed over $40 in cash, but the victim demanded more money and shot the man in the leg, police said.

The victim then handed over $260, police said.

The victim was taken to Harlem Hospital, where his condition was reported as stable, police said.

The suspect fled northeast on Sherman Avenue to parts unknown in a black four-door sedan, police said.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic male between the ages of 25 and 30, standing 5 feet 8 to 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds, with a mustache and beard. He is partially bald, and was last seen wearing a light T-shirt, dark jeans, and dark sneakers.

Police have released surveillance footage of the suspect.
