Police Search For Suspect In Attempted Robbery Of Staten Island Gas Station

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Police are searching for a suspect wanted in connection with an attempted robbery of a Staten Island gas station.

Police say the suspect approached the clerk of the Gulf gas station at 425 Vanderbilt Avenue around 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, October 19, and demanded money while brandishing a firearm.

The victim refused to hand over the cash and was struck by the firearm several times, causing pain and swelling, police said. However, there were no serious injuries in the incident.

Authorities describe the suspect as a black male around 6 feet tall, wearing a black and white striped hooded sweatshirt and black ski mask.
