Police Search For 2 Men In Series Of Robberies At Gunpoint In Queens

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – The hunt is on for two men suspected of a series of robberies at gunpoint in Queens.

Police released surveillance video of the most recent hold-up, which took place at a Subway sandwich shop on North Conduit Avenue. Around 9 p.m. on March 17, police say the men walked into the Springfield Gardens business, displaying a large handgun, and demanded the employee open the safe. The employees fought back and the two fled on foot.

The suspects were seen wearing black hooded jackets, masks and gloves.

The Subway store owner did not comment on the crime, but when CBS2 showed the surveillance video to a worker at the salon next door and the nearby laundromat, they couldn't help but worry for their safety.

"Oh my gosh," Katie Ann Rattigan said. "That's very scary."

"It could happen anytime, it could be here or next door," laundromat worker Hezron James said.

On January 1, the two are suspected of robbing another Subway sandwich shop in Jamaica on Merrick Boulevard around 9:20 p.m. Police say one suspect put a gun to an employee's head and demanded money while the second suspect held another victim down on the floor. The two took around $500 and fled on foot, police say.

In a third incident on January 3, the two are accused of going to a gas station on the Horace Harding Expressway in Fresh Meadows and brandishing a firearm before taking approximately $500. Police say in that incident, the suspects were also wearing masks.

None of the workers were seriously injured, CBS2's Ilana Gold reported.
