Police: Robbery Victim Helps Cops Find Stolen Car, Suspects

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) - Police say an armed robbery victim helped them catch up with a suspect who stole a car, was in it when it crashed and flipped over and then took a cab to try to get away.

The New York Police Department says the chain of events started around 2:15 p.m. Friday. The 22-year-old victim man called 911 to report the gunpoint robbery at his home in Brooklyn, and describe the suspects, his car and his plate number.

Officers found the car overturned and empty at a nearby intersection. Firefighters there told the officers that one person in the car had run off and hopped a fence, while the other had gotten a livery cab.

Police found the cab and arrested the 21-year-old suspect on robbery and other charges.
