Police: Robber Apparently Targeted Rutgers University Fraternity Members' Home
NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) - Authorities say an armed man who robbed a home where some Rutgers University fraternity members live apparently targeted the residence because he believed drugs and cash were stored inside.
New Brunswick police say eight Rutgers students were in the Robinson Street residence when the home invasion robbery occurred around 12:10 am Tuesday. Four of the victims are members of the TKE fraternity who live in the home.
Authorities say the victims initially were reluctant to cooperate with police, and it's not clear if the robber took any cash or items before fleeing on foot. Authorities say he brandished a handgun during the robbery, but no injuries were reported.
Detectives say they saw large quantities of cash along with drugs and drug paraphernalia in some areas of the house.
