Police Release Sketch Of Man Whose Dismembered Body Was Found In Queens

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police have released two sketches of a man whose dismembered body was found near train tracks in Queens earlier this year with the hope of identifying him.

Police said the body parts were discovered near Long Island Rail Road tracks in Elmhurst on April 12.

Detectives said a homeless man collecting cans near 43rd Avenue came upon a torn bag that had a skull inside.

A search of the area turned up more body parts in several bags, police said.

The medical examiner's office determined the body parts belonged to a 30-year-old white man, but police have not been able to identify the victim.

Police are calling the man's death a homicide.

Anyone with information regarding the victim or the homicide is urged to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
