Police Probe Shooting That Left Man Dead In Newark

NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Tuesday were investigating a shooting that left a 38-year-old man in Newark the night before.

Newark police responded around 7:37 p.m. Monday to a call on Belmont Terrace in Newark, according to the Essex County Prosecutor's office and Newark police.

At the scene, they found Ali Sabir, 38, lying at the scene with multiple gunshot wounds, police said.

Sabir was pronounced dead at 8:08 p.m. Monday at University Hospital, police said.

No arrests had been made and no suspects had been identified as of Tuesday night, police said. The investigation remained active and ongoing.
