Police Probe Accident With Bike That Killed Jogger, 75, In Central Park

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Wednesday continued to investigate an accident involving a bicycle that took the life of a 75-year-old jogger in Central Park earlier this month.

As WCBS 880's Ginny Kosola reported, Irving Schachter was training for the New York City Marathon on East Drive in Central Park when he was struck by a cyclist on Aug. 3.

He suffered a head injury and was pronounced dead two days later.

The cyclist has not faced any charges and was not given a ticket, but police continued to investigate Wednesday.

Schachter was a member of the New York Cycle Club and was also a cyclist himself. He lived on the Upper East Side.
