Police: Port Authority Bus Terminal Bust Yields $20,000 In Heroin

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A Bronx man faces drug charges after police said they found him carrying a brown paper bag filled with about $20,000 worth of heroin through the Port Authority Bus Terminal.

Gobert Taveras, 32, was arrested Thursday morning.

When Taveras walked into the terminal from the subway, officers saw him look at them three times before he changed direction and walked back into the subway, police said.

Taveras then came back to the terminal and placed the bag on the ground, police said. He walked away from it and then returned to it least twice, police said.

Police said the bag contained 2,000 packages of heroin, valued at $10 each on the street.
