Police: Serial Pickpocket Targeting Women In Queens

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are searching for an accused pickpocket who they say is targeting women at various stores in Queens.

The suspect has struck at least nine times since January, police said. The most recent incident happened last Sunday at the CJ Supermarket on Main Street, police said.

In each case, police said he walks up or bumps into women and then swipes their wallets and smartphones.

Police have released surveillance video of the suspect from Feb. 8 that was taken inside the J Mart store on Roosevelt Boulevard.

In that incident, police said he walked up to a 29-year-old woman as she was shopping and took her iPhone 6 from her jacket pocket.

Police describe the suspect only as a Hispanic man in his 40s.
