Police: Peeping Tom Targeted Woman In Fitting Room At Long Island Store

HUNTINGTON STATION, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Suffolk County police on Friday were asking the public to help them find an alleged peeping tom, who police said put a recording device in a fitting room as a woman changed in a department store.

Around 7:25 p.m. Thursday, the woman was changing in the fitting room in a store at the Walt Whitman Shops at 350 Walt Whitman Rd. in Huntington Station, police said.

She saw someone put a recording device under the fitting room door, police said.

The woman followed the man through the store in an attempt to keep him from running off, but he did end up fleeing in an unknown direction, police said.

Police have released two photos of the suspect, who is described as a Hispanic male in his 30s standing about 5 feet 4 inches tall.

Anyone with information on the incident was asked to call the Suffolk County police Second Squad detectives at (631) 854-8252, or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at (800) 220-TIPS.
