Police: Man Struck, Killed By Truck In Brooklyn Hit-And-Run

NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- Police are investigating a hit-and-run accident that left a man dead in Brooklyn on Friday afternoon.

Shortly after 3 p.m. officers responded to a call reporting a pedestrian struck at Atlantic Ave and Williams Place. They found the victim unconscious and unresponsive with severe body trauma.

The man was transported to Brookdale Hospital and pronounced dead.

Upon further investigation authorities determined that the man had been pushing a shopping cart westbound on Atlantic Ave. and passed alongside a parked truck. The truck then left its parking spot, struck the victim, and left the scene, police said.

The truck has been described as a 3 axle, dark-colored cab, with a straight flatbed and a boom.
