Police: Man Stole From Donation Box At Kew Gardens, Queens Synagogue

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Thursday were asking the public to help them find a suspect who stole $75 from a donation box at a synagogue in Kew Gardens, Queens.

Around 12:25 p.m. this past Friday, the suspect walked into Congregation Adas Yereim, at 122-31 Metropolitan Ave. in Queens, and took about $75 from the donation box, police said.

He got into the building form an unknown entrance, and ran off afterward, police said.

The suspect was described as a white male standing about 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing about 185 pounds. He was last seen wearing a multi-colored striped short-sleeved shirt, beige slacks, and beige shoes.

Police have released a surveillance photo of the suspect.

Anyone with information was asked to call the NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS, log onto the Crime Stoppers website, or text tips to 274637 (CRIMES) and enter TIP577.
