Police: Cop Questioned After Subway Worker Is Roughed Up In The Bronx
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- An NYPD officer was being questioned Thursday night, after a subway worker was roughed up on a Bronx train platform.
Police told CBS2 the officer turned himself in at the 25th Precinct in Harlem, after recognizing himself in surveillance video.
The incident happened around 2:30 a.m. on Dec. 23 on southbound D Train platform at the Tremont Avenue station near Grand Concourse, police said.
Police said the off-duty officer allegedly bear-hugged the female Metropolitan Transportation Authority worker, and then choked her, after she tried to grab his cellphone.
The officer told investigators the woman cursed at him after he asked her a question, and grabbed his phone to prevent him from taking her picture, police alleged.
The victim was taken to the hospital for minor head, neck and back injuries and was released.
No charges had been filed in the case as of Thursday evening.
