Police: Long Island Woman Drove Intoxicated, Crashed Into House With Daughter In SUV

HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A Long Island woman was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated Wednesday night, after police say she crashed into a house with her teenage daughter in the vehicle.

Arlene Lamb-Palermo, 48, crashed into a house at an unspecified address in Hauppauge around 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, with her 15-year-old daughter in her sport-utility vehicle with her, Suffolk County police said.

The girl suffered a minor injury and was taken to North Shore-LIJ Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, police said. No one in the house was injured, police said.

Lamb-Palermo, of Hauppauge, was charged with Leandra's Law, or aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child 15 years or younger, as well as driving while intoxicated and endangering the welfare of a child.

She was to be arraigned at Suffolk County First District Court in Central Islip on Thursday, police said.
