Police: Long Island Babysitter Assaulted 2-Year-Old Girl In His Care

FREEPORT, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A Long Island man is accused of assaulting a toddler in his care, Nassau County police said.

Wilson Reyes, 21, was babysitting the 2-year-old girl when the attack happened on New Year's Day in Freeport, police said.

The little girl was taken to the hospital and was not seriously injured, WCBS 880's Sophia Hall reported.

Authorities would not go into detail about the alleged assault.

Reyes was arrested Monday and charged with second-degree assault. He pleaded not guilty and is being held on $25,000 bond, Hall reported.

Detectives are trying to determine whether there are any other victims and are asking anyone with information to call the Nassau County Special Victims Squad at 516-573-4022.
