Police Investigating Possible Luring Attempt In Ridgewood

RIDGEWOOD, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Police are looking for a van in connection with a possible luring attempt in Ridgewood, New Jersey.

A girl told investigators that a driver of a black Ford Econoline van slowed down and offered her candy around 3:15 p.m. Monday on East Ridgewood Avenue near Hope Street, police said.

The girl did not engage the driver and was able to take a picture of the van as it drove off, police said.

Police said the van has a New Jersey registration, is possibly a 2007 through 2013 model with running boards and backup sensors on the rear bumper.

The driver of the van was described as a white male in his early 50s, about 5'9" and approximately 240 pounds.

There was also a passenger in the van who police said did not say or do anything during the incident. The passenger is described as a younger, dark-skinned, possibly Hispanic male, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ridgewood Detective Bureau at (201) 251-4536.
