Several students told police that they awoke to find a strange man inside their dorm rooms Thursday morning, the university said.

The rooms all belonged to female students and the break-ins occurred between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m., WCBS 880's Sophia Hall reported.

"Some of the rooms unfortunately were unlocked," said assistant campus police chief Lawrence Zacarese. "The ability to get into the room was simply gained by opening an unlocked door."

A wallet and a key were stolen from two rooms, Hall reported.

Im could be expelled from Stony Brook, Rivera reported.
