Police Identify Woman Found Dead In Burned House In Bedford-Stuyvesant In 2013

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Tuesday identified a woman whose body was found in a burnt suitcase nearly two years ago in a Brooklyn home that had been on fire.

Police ruled that the death of Erica McDaniel, 30, was a homicide and were asking for assistance Tuesday in finding out information about the incident.

Around 1:40 p.m. Saturday, March 23, McDaniel's remains were found in the burnt suitcase inside the home at 174 Hull St. in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, police said.

A fire had broken out at the home on Wednesday, May 9, 2012, police said.

Police said McDaniel had lived on Bedford Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant, and had also lived in Kansas in the past.

Police released a photo of McDaniel, and asked the public for help in ascertaining information regarding the incident.
