Police: Fetus Found At Stamford Sewage Plant

STAMFORD, Conn. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Police say a worker has found a fetus at a sewage treatment plant in Stamford.

WFSB-TV reports that investigators said the fetus was about five or six months old and was found in a trash bin designated to receive large items.

The station also reports workers knew exactly what it was when they happened upon the fetus.

Following an autopsy, the state medical examiner ruled that the fetus had not been born and the mother likely had a miscarriage.

If it's determined to have been a miscarriage, the mother will not face charges.

Police said the fetus had been flushed down a toilet within about 24 hours from when it was found Saturday.
