Police: Driver Arrested For DWI After NJ Woman Killed In Harlem Crash

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- One woman is dead and another is facing drunken-driving charges after a car crash in Harlem.

It happened around 5:40 a.m. Sunday on the Harlem River Drive near East 121 Street.

Police say 24-year-old Shanelle Emanuel, of Bayonne, New Jersey, was driving north on the Harlem River Drive when she lost control of the car while trying to exit for the RFK bridge and hit a tree.

Emanuel's passenger, 24-year-old Kiara Jenkins, of Jersey City, was taken to Harlem Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Emanuel was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated and driving without a license.
