Police Chase Comes To Terrifying End At 79th And Park

NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- A terrifying police chase came to an end at 79th Street and Park Avenue on Sunday.

The high speed chase ended badly for the suspect and for a pedestrian, CBS 2 reported.

Police said that they attempted to make a traffic stop when the suspect fled and hit a pedestrian near Columbus Circle while driving away.

The 26-year-old male pedestrian suffered minor injuries. The suspect was apprehended at 79th and Park and arrested.

William Hankerson, 39, faces numerous charges including assault on a police officer, vehicular assault and reckless endangerment.

Police did not know where the initial stop was made.
