Police Charge Teen With Shooting That Injured 3 In The Bronx

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A teenager was arrested and charged in connection with a New York City street shooting that wounded three people, including a 79-year-old woman who was running errands.

According to police, 18-year-old Christopher Lopez was arrested on attempted murder and other charges stemming from Wednesday's shooting on Morris Park Avenue in the Van Nest section of the Bronx.

The 79-year-old victim had just walked out of a nearby 99-cent store when the shooting erupted and she was caught in the crossfire, CBS 2 previously reported. She was wounded in the hand, police said.

Police said the woman was in the wrong place at the wrong time, and was not the intended target.

Also wounded were a 19-year-old man, who was shot in the thigh, and an 18-year-old man, who was shot in the arm, police said. Police believe at least one of the teens was the intended target.

Officials said the shooting appeared to have stemmed from bad blood between different groups of teens.
