Police: Calif. Man Charged With Kidnapping, Raping New York Teen He Met On Social Media

VICTORVILLE, Calif. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A man has been arrested after police said he lured a 16-year-old girl from New York all the way to southern California where he held her against her will and sexually assaulted her for days.

Buck Wylde Murphy, 49, is charged with 11 felonies, including kidnapping, false imprisonment, child abduction and rape, police said.

San Bernardino County sheriff's detectives said Murphy met the teen on social media and lured her to come to California. Once there, police said he held the teen against her will in his recreational vehicle by threat of force and raped her for five days.

Murphy was arrested Thursday and the girl was rescued, police said.

Buck Wylde Murphy is the name of late actor-director John Cassavetes' former son-in-law, but sheriff's spokeswoman Jodi Miller couldn't confirm if that's the person they arrested.

Murphy is being held on $1 million bail.
