Police: At Least 30 Rounds Fired From Semiautomatic Weapon In Yonkers

YONKERS, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) – At least 30 rounds were fired from a semiautomatic weapon by two men in Yonkers, police sources say.

People who live on Cromwell Place in Yonkers' south side said they are used to people with guns, but this incident was excessive.

One father, who was bringing his some home from soccer, said it's just another day in the neighborhood.

"I'm not surprised, I'm not surprised at all," he told 1010 WINS' Gary Baumgarten. "There are too many guns out here on the street."

One resident in the area told Baumgarten police are scarce in the area.

Another said many teenagers in the building carry guns.

"I heard the shots," another resident told 1010 WINS.

No one was hit, but three cars and the plaza of a high-rise of a low-income building were riddled with bullet holes.
