Police Arrest Suspect In Queens Attempted Luring

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police have arrested a 69-year-old homeless man in connection with an attempted luring incident in Queens.

Houshang Hakimi tried to lure a 12-year-old girl into a sport utility vehicle on 49th Street and Ditmars Boulevard just after 4 p.m. last Wednesday, police said.

"The longer she spoke to him, the more she figured something was wrong," the girl's father told CBS 2′s John Slattery after the incident. "He told her he knows me somehow or that he's a friend of her father. So, she declined and then he said 'I have some candy for you.'"

Hakimi fled when the child's baby sitter approached, police said.

He is charged with acting in a manner injuring a child less than 17 years old and failure to report a change of address as a sex offender.
