Police: 5 Cars Stolen In 3 New Jersey Towns After Keys Left Inside

SADDLE RIVER, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- At least five cars have been stolen in three New Jersey towns over the last four months.

As 1010 WINS' Rebecca Granet reported, Saddle River police said three cars have been stolen there this month and they all had something in common.

Resident Nabile said he was recently made aware of the incidents.

"The police, they came to our house and told us about the criminal issue," he said.

So here's the key: police said all the cars were unlocked and the key fobs were left inside the vehicles.

Donna lives close by in Upper Saddle River, and said she would never leave her keys in the car.

"I may as well put a sign out and say take my car," she said.

Cars were also reported stolen in Hohokus and Ridgewood. Both of those cases also involved keys being left in the vehicles.
