Police: 2 L.I. Teens Robbed After Setting Up Meeting To Buy Sneakers On Facebook

WANTAGH, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Social media helped two teenagers connect with a few muggers on Long Island, police said.

The two 14-year-old victims contacted someone on Facebook about buying sneakers and arranged to meet Monday night, police said.

When the victims got to the meeting spot in Wantagh, police said they were met by three men who pulled a gun, grabbed their money and fled.

Police were able to track two of the suspects to a home in Holbrook, where a black BB gun was also recovered.

Both 18-year-olds  face robbery charges.
