Police: 2 Injured In Manhattan Hit-And-Run Crash

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Blood was splattered on a Manhattan sidewalk after police say a hit-and-run driver jumped a curb, injuring two pedestrians.

Police told 1010 WINS the driver of a red Dodge Durango first hit a person, then slammed into a pole at a bust stop. The pole fell over and struck a second pedestrian.

The Saturday morning accident at Tenth Avenue and 34th Street left a 44-year-old woman in serious condition and a 40-year-old man in critical condition with non life-threatening injuries at Bellevue Medical Center.

Pieces of the badly damaged vehicle were still strewn on the sidewalk five hours after the accident.

Police said the driver ran from the scene. He was described as a man in his 30s.
