Police: 1 Man Left $1,300 On Counter At S.I. Dunkin' Donuts, Next Man Stole It

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The search was under way Wednesday for a man who stole $1,300 that another man left on the counter at a Dunkin' Donuts on Staten Island.

Around 6:20 a.m. Friday, Feb. 6, the victim, a 68-year-old man, was paying for items at the Dunkin' Donuts at 1854 Hylan Blvd., in the Midland Beach section of Staten Island, police said. He left $1,300 cash on the counter and walked out, police said.

The suspect immediately walked up to the counter, took the cash, and left in a silver two-door Mercedes Benz, police said.

The suspect was described as a white male with a thin build, wearing construction clothing and a partial tool belt.

Police have released surveillance images of the suspect and the getaway vehicle.
