Witnesses: Speeding Van Jumped Curb Before Slamming Into Plainfield Home

PLAINFIELD, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- An out-of-control van plowed into a home in Plainfield, New Jersey Friday evening, leaving two men trapped.

"Like a big freight train coming through here," John Diggs told CBS2's Brian Conybeare.

The sound was the result of a white construction van winding up on its side right up against a house on Friday night.

Firefighters had to free the two men who were trapped inside.

There was a hole in the wall visible from the living room. Diggs said he was upstairs watching TV when he heard the impact.

"I heard that big noise and stuff like that you know. Scared the hell out of me," he said.

Witnesses said the van was out-of-control and speeding down Plainfield Avenue when it jumped a curb and went airborne before slamming into the corner of the house.

When the van, owned by a company called 'Drywall Plus' was towed off of his yard, Diggs was left with a blue tarp covering the hole in his living room.

How exactly does a van wind up hitting a house.

"Speed. Speed, that's all I can say. Speed," Diggs said.
