LISTEN: Peter Gammons Talks About Jackie Robinson's Legacy On WFAN

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Jackie Robinson, who broke baseball's color barrier 69 years ago this week, was the topic of conversation Tuesday between WFAN's Mike Francesa and baseball writer Peter Gammons.

On his show, Francesa asked Gammons if he had ever met Robinson.

"Yes, I did. But it was so much later in his life," Gammons said. "Obviously he was retired long before I started covering baseball, but he still fascinated me.

"I think he's such a seminal figure to so many of us that were involved in the Civil Rights Movement and really understand where the country was. It is amazing what he meant to the country."
