Police: Pennsylvania Man Wanted For Burglary Arrested Near Holland Tunnel

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Port Authority police have arrested a Pennsylvania fugitive after the man was caught driving erratically in the Holland Tunnel.

Mitchell Neil Thompson, 24, of Reading, was allegedly on his cell phone while driving a 2015 U-Haul rental van westbound in the Holland Tunnel at around 7 p.m. on Tuesday, officials said.

According to police, the van crossed over into another lane several times, causing a bus to slow down and honk at the vehicle.

Port Authority police officer Christopher Paskovich pulled the van over on 14th Street and Manila Ave. in Jersey City, where Thompson handed the officer an expired Pennsylvania driver's license. Upon further investigation, it was revealed that Thompson's license had been suspended and he was wanted on an active warrant for Burglary and Terroristic Threats in Pennsylvania, according to police.

According to police, Thompson was charged as a Fugitive from Justice and will be extradited after being processed at the Hudson County Jail.
