Man Robs Newsstand After Spending $200 On Losing Lottery Tickets

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A man spent $200 on losing lottery tickets, then robbed the Penn Station newsstand that sold them to him, police said.

The man purchased the scratch-off tickets Friday morning.

After losing, he knocked over the newsstand owner and stole about $1,500 from the cash register, police said.

The owner said the man had been coming in regularly to buy tickets for the past few weeks.

"When you play, you have to think about that. When you're gambling, there are only two things -- you win or you lose. If you don't want to lose the money, don't play," he said.

Police are searching for the suspect.
