Pedestrian Struck, Injured By Sightseeing Bus In West Village

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A pedestrian was reported in serious condition Wednesday evening, after she was struck by a double-decker bus in the West Village.

The 74-year-old woman was struck by the double-decker sightseeing bus at Seventh Avenue and 14th Street, CBS 2's Joe Biermann reported from Chopper 2.

The woman was crossing from the east side of Seventh Avenue to the west when she was struck around 5 p.m., police told CBS 2.

She was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he was reported in serious condition, Biermann reported.

The tour bus belonged to CitySights NY, which issued a statement in response to the accident.

""Our thoughts are with the injured woman and her family and we are cooperating fully with the NYPD. Safety is of paramount concern to CitySights and we have an exemplary record in that regard," spokesman David Chien said in the statement.

Following the accident, Seventh Avenue was closed at the scene as police investigated.
