PBA Hands Out Toys To Children In Need At Far Rockaway Church

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Christmas came early for some kids in need in Far Rockaway, Queens.

As 1010 WINS' Mona Rivera reported, 11-year-old Brianna was among those who stood in line in the cold for hours on Saturday to pick out free toys courtesy of the Patrolmen's Benevolent Association.

She said though she's shivering, she's grateful.

"I got a Frozen play set and I got a baseball glove because I love baseball," she said. "(Rivera: And now go home and get warm?) Yea, I'm gonna get some hot chocolate with marshmallows."

The toy distribution was held at the Church of the Nazarene, an area that was rocked by Superstorm Sandy.

PBA President Pat Lynch was also on hand to help give out the toys.

"This is also a church where many of our member's families sit in these pews," he said.

The PBA also handed out toys in Brownsville, Brooklyn.
