Tenants Call For Investigation Into Conditions At Patterson Houses
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Tenants at the Patterson Houses in the Bronx are calling on city, state and federal health officials to investigate problems like mold, crumbling walls and poor plumbing.
Erica Jefferson told WCBS 880's Stephanie Colombini she had to move in with her 90-year-old mother because of unsafe conditions at the apartment.
"Due to the floors being messed up she's prone to falling," she said.
Jefferson said she made multiple complaints to the NYC Housing Authority, all of which have been unresolved.
"They don't have no problem coming to collect their rent or knocking on that door when it's late, but we can't get our job done," she said.
A NYCHA spokesperson said the agency has a $17 billion backlog on needed repairs, but that it's committed to creating safe public housing.
