PATH Safety Upgrades Mean Riders Will Have To Adjust Weekend Travel Plans

HOBOKEN, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Some people in New Jersey may have to adjust their plans if they want to take the PATH train into the city on weekends.

PATH and the Port Authority said they will be suspending weekend service from August through mid-December on the 33rd Street line.

"Our signal system is 100 years old and we want to just make sure we can meet that federally mandated deadline," she said.

Officials said during the shutdown they will add bus service and will also have weekend service from Hoboken to the World Trade Center.
