Funeral Monday For Paterson High School Basketball Star Killed In Drive-By Shooting

PATERSON, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A funeral service will be held Monday for the Paterson high school basketball star killed in a drive-by shooting.

Armoni Sexton, 15, who attended the Paterson Charter School for Science and Technology, was nationally ranked and dreamed of playing in the NBA. His funeral will be held at Paterson's Christian Fellowship followed by burial in Cedar Lawn Cemetery.

Sexton was killed and at least three other people were wounded in a drive-by shooting on Rosa Parks Boulevard on April 18.

The other victims survived.

Two people face charges in connection with the fatal shooting.

Prosecutors announced Saturday that 20-year-old Hasmeek Coles, of Paterson, was taken into custody and is charged with first-degree murder, attempted murder, receiving stolen property and second-degree weapons offenses, according to authorities.

Coles is being held on $2 million cash bail.

Last week, Gregory Oliver, 20, pleaded not guilty to murder, three counts of attempted murder and weapons possession. He is also being held on $2 million cash bail.

Oliver's lawyer said his client is innocent.
