Popped Tire Causes Explosion Scare In Manhattan

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- An apparent popped tire caused quite a scare Monday in Manhattan, prompting authorities to close part of Lexington Avenue.

Police, firefighters and other first responders responded to reports of a possible explosion at an apartment building on Lexington Avenue in Kips Bay.

When they arrived, fire officials said they discovered that the so-called explosion was actually a tire on a dolly that blew during a delivery, WCBS 880's Alex Silverman reported.

No injuries were reported.

Authorities had closed down Lexington between East 26th and East 27th streets as they investigated, but it was eventually reopened.
